I. Monumental Painting Competition

The Monumental Painting Competition is dedicated to wall paintings, ceilings, and architectural surfaces executed in various techniques — fresco, tempera, acrylic, silicate painting. What is valued here is the integrity of composition, the scale of thinking, the expressiveness of colour and imagery, mastery of the material, and harmony with the architectural context.

Nominations:

  1. Monumental Painting — wall paintings, ceilings, and architectural surfaces executed in various techniques: fresco, tempera, acrylic, silicate painting. The integrity of composition, the scale of thinking, the expressiveness of colour and imagery, mastery of material, and correspondence to the architectural context are evaluated.
  2. Mixed Techniques in Monumental Painting — works combining various techniques and materials in a single work (fresco with acrylic inserts, tempera with mosaic elements, the use of textured additives, etc.). Originality of concept, plastic expressiveness, and harmonious combination of materials are evaluated.

II. Mosaic Competition

The Mosaic Competition features images assembled from coloured stones, smalt, glass, ceramic tiles, or other materials. The mastery of the set, the complexity of the colour solution, and decorative expressiveness are evaluated.

Nominations:

  1. Smalt Mosaic — works made from pieces of coloured opaque glass (smalt). The depth of colour, the play of light on the surface, and the virtuosity of the set are evaluated.
  2. Glass Mosaic — images assembled from transparent or coloured glass. Light transmission, transparency, and the ability to create complex colour transitions are evaluated.
  3. Stone Mosaic — works made from natural stone (marble, granite, jasper, malachite, etc.). The texture of the material, the natural beauty of the stone, and the mastery of selecting shades are evaluated.
  4. Ceramic Mosaic — mosaic assembled from ceramic tiles and elements. Textural diversity, colour solution, and decorative expressiveness are evaluated.
  5. Mixed Mosaic — works combining various materials (stone, glass, smalt, ceramics, shells, metal, etc.) in a single composition. Originality of concept, harmonious combination of textures and materials, and complexity of execution are evaluated.

III. Stained Glass Competition

The Stained Glass Competition features works made of coloured glass or other light-transmitting materials for filling window and door openings, as well as independent panels in transmitted light. The artistic solution, mastery of colour, and light transmission are evaluated.

Nominations:

  1. Classical Stained Glass (Set) — a work assembled from pieces of coloured glass joined together with lead or copper profile. The complexity of the design, the mastery of the set, and the expressiveness of the colour solution are evaluated.
  2. Tiffany Technique Stained Glass — stained glass made using copper foil that wraps each piece of glass before soldering. The precision of fitting the details, the smoothness of lines, and the richness of colour transitions are evaluated.
  3. Fusing Stained Glass — works created by fusing glass elements at high temperatures in a kiln. The complexity of the technology, the effects of glass melting, and artistic expressiveness are evaluated.
  4. Etched Stained Glass — a technique in which the design is created by chemical etching of the glass surface. The clarity of lines, detail of the pattern, and creation of matte effects are evaluated.
  5. Glass Painting — works executed with special paints on a glass surface followed by firing. Painterly mastery, elaboration of details, and colour saturation are evaluated.
  6. Mixed Techniques in Stained Glass — works combining various stained glass techniques (set glass, fusing, painting, etching, etc.) in a single piece. Originality of concept, complexity of execution, and harmonious combination of techniques are evaluated.

IV. Bas-Relief and High Relief Competition

The Bas-Relief and High Relief Competition features sculptural images on a plane. Bas-relief is a low relief protruding less than half the volume. High relief is a high relief protruding more than half the volume. The plasticity of forms, composition, and mastery of execution are evaluated.

Nominations:

  1. Sculptural Plasticity (Animalistic, Portrait, Narrative Composition) — relief images united by a thematic principle. The expressiveness of images, plasticity of forms, and emotional impact are evaluated.
  2. Bas-Relief — a sculptural image with a low projection above the plane. The subtlety of modelling, elegance of lines, and the ability to convey volume at minimal relief height are evaluated.
  3. High Relief — a sculptural image with a high projection approaching round sculpture. The expressiveness of volumetric forms, the dynamics of composition, and the depth of plastic elaboration are evaluated.
  4. Counter-Relief — a technique in which the image is recessed relative to the background surface. The clarity of silhouettes, depth of elaboration, and decorative expressiveness are evaluated.
  5. Decorative Relief — ornamental, abstract, or stylized relief compositions intended for decorating architectural surfaces. The rhythm of the pattern, decorativeness, and correspondence to the architectural context are evaluated.

V. Monumental and Decorative Panel Competition

The Monumental and Decorative Panel Competition features large-format compositions for architectural interiors and exteriors, executed in mixed techniques using various materials. The integrity of the image, decorative expressiveness, and correspondence to the architectural context are evaluated.

Nominations:

  1. Interior Panel — large-format compositions for decorating internal spaces (lobbies, halls, foyers, rooms). Harmony with the interior, scale, colour solution, and decorative expressiveness are evaluated.
  2. Exterior Panel — monumental compositions for decorating facades and external architectural surfaces. The scale of thinking, expressiveness of silhouette, and correspondence to the architectural appearance of the building are evaluated.
  3. Mosaic Panel — a large-format image assembled from coloured stones, smalt, glass, ceramic tiles, or other materials. The mastery of the set, complexity of the colour solution, scale of concept, and decorative expressiveness are evaluated.
  4. Mixed Techniques in Monumental and Decorative Panel — works combining various materials and techniques in a single composition (painting, mosaic, relief, sgraffito, metal, ceramics, etc.). Originality of concept, harmonious combination of materials, and plastic expressiveness are evaluated.

It is important to participate, interesting to watch, and useful to listen. That is how one can describe the atmosphere of the "Russian Art Week" — a place where creativity, education, and communication merge into a single stream of inspiration. The "Russian Art Week" is not just a competition. It is a map of the contemporary Russian art world, marking all the main directions: from the familiar painting and graphics to bold digital experiments and monumental forms.

In addition to the exhibition and competition programs, the "Russian Art Week" offers participants and guests an extensive educational and business program: master classes and lectures, conferences, business meetings, presentation sessions for authors, and a unique format — the "Art Ring", where leading experts engage in live dialogue about trends and the future of art.
